However, wheelchairs need to be accompanied by caregivers. As society ages and the number of care recipients increases, the burden on caregivers is expected to increase. In order to reduce the burden on caregivers, we propose an operating system of electric wheelchair, which can automatically drive itself by capturing the position of an object. And the experimental results show the effectiveness of our proposal.\nIn this research, we developed a self-driving electric wheelchair operating system that automatically travels to a target. A robot arm is mounted to the self-driving electric wheelchair for picking up stuffs from ground in daily life. The accessible area of the robot arm is limited, and it is assumed that the electric wheelchair is in a closed range to the target. Therefore, by mounting the camera on an electric wheelchair that can drive itself close enough to the target within the camera range, the operation of the electric wheelchair can be omitted, and the robot arm can be operated to pick up objects. 内容記述 | Wheelchairs are essential means of transportation for the elderly people and the physically challenged people. However, wheelchairs need to be accompanied by caregivers. As society ages and the number of care recipients increases, the burden on caregivers is expected to increase.
