X-19, yeast, by cell fusion method was conducted for promotion of extra cellular protein（ECP）production. The protoplast of yeast for cell fusion was prepared by treatment with a cell wall lytic enzyme which had been prepared from a culture broth of Actinomadura spandix newly separated from soil. It was estimated by DNA analysis that the fused yeast cell had twice the DNA content of the original cell.
