However, strong expression of heterologous genes and secretion of their proteins in this organism are difficult. In the current study, we report that a gene expression cassette including the cellobiose phosphorylase gene promoter, the hypoxanthine phosphoribosyl transferase gene terminator from C. thermocellum, and the ribosome-binding site and histidine-tag sequence from pQE30, led to the expression of a heterologous gene: aldehyde deformylating oxygenase.
