 note = {application/pdf, This article reports a Virtual Exchange (VE) projectin a Center for International Education and Research (CIER) class, “The Society and Culture of Mie”, which was offered to international students at Mie University. In this project, the international students conducted poster presentations in Japanese, which introduced the regional culture of the prefecture of Mie to students attending the University of Shizuoka. The objectives of the project were to encourage the international students to (i) study the Japanese language and (ii) to become (unofficial) ambassadors that build bridges between the prefecture of Mie and their home countries. The post-project questionnaire, given to students who presented, indicated that the project elicited moderate effects of the above (i) and (ii) objectives.},
