Since smooth communication by medical interpreters is necessary, medical interpreter training is being conducted in various places. Since the overwhelming majority of trainees are non-native speakers of Japanese, the perspective of Japanese language education is essential for grasping and reviewing current abilities. The author has conducted Japanese language education courses four times as part of medical interpreter training. As a result, we found that "accurate listening", "expansion of vocabulary", and "accurate utterance" are interrelated, and that it is necessary to develop educational materials for non-native language interpreters that can acquire the four skills in a well-balanced manner. In addition, it was found that it is necessary to implement long-term Japanese language education courses in order to accumulate learning items and cooperate with each other.
