The methods were: 1) the exacerbating effect of perinatal hypoxic invasion of maternal and neonatal rats on pulmonary hypertension in Sugen/Hypoxia rats in the remote period, and 2) analysis of genome-wide DNA methylation in relation to accelerated proliferation and suppressed cell death in cultured vascular smooth muscle cells in the remote period after perinatal hypoxia exposure. Results showed that perinatal hypoxia worsened life expectancy, pulmonary artery pressure, right ventricular hypertrophy, and pulmonary vascular occlusive lesions in Sugen/Hypoxia rats.
