The study included 20 cases of HXLPE with antioxidants among the second-generation HXLPEs that were retrieved from in vivo after total hip and knee arthroplasty. The researchers measured the maximum oxidation index and oxidative induction time. The findings revealed that the oxidative induction time was significantly correlated with the vitamin E index, resulting in higher oxidation resistance in antioxidant infused HXLPE compared to antioxidant blended HXLPE.
