The purpose of this study was to clarify the outline of educational programs developed for nursing managers in Japan. A literature search was conducted using Japan Medical Abstracts Society, and 16 articles were selected. The contents of the developed educational programs were classified into five categories: <Acquisition of organizational managerial ability> <Acquisition of nursing research ability> <Acquisition of crisis managerial ability> <Acquisition of human resource managerial ability> <Self-management of managers themselves>. The evaluation method used existing scales or original questionnaires, and evaluations were based on the results before and after the intervention or after the intervention, and all educational programs showed an increase in scores or a sense of satisfaction. The developed educational programs were aimed at acquiring skills as a nursing manager and managing the managers themselves.
