| 内容記述 | This study examined whether people in pictures or videos help prevent cheating by preschoolers. Tomita and Kai (2019) found that being aware of a ghost in a picture reduced cheating among preschoolers. However, their study did not clarify whether being aware of the presence of a fantasy or being aware that someone was watching, regardless of the target, was important. Therefore, in this study, we used an ordinary human target instead of a ghost and examined whether there were any differences between pictures and videos. Preschoolers (23 4-year-olds and 30 6-year-olds) were invited by an experimenter to play with a new toy. After the toy was placed behind them, they were instructed not to turn around and look at the toy until the experimenter returned to retrieve their forgotten item. A picture or video (on a tablet device) of a female student was placed in front of them, and their behavior was monitored while they were left alone in the room. To explore their understanding of the picture or video, they were asked whether they could hear or see the female student in the picture or video. The results showed that being aware of the presence of a target inhibited cheating, even if it was a picture or video, and even if it was a normal person rather than a ghost. The effect was greater for 6-year-olds than for 4-year-olds. In addition, it was shown that the level of comprehension of the picture or video did not affect actual behavior. |
