The purpose of this study was to clarify how recipients who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation perceive and relate to the donor-derived cells residing within their bodies. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine recipients who had received hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The collected verbal data were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. Five categories were identified regarding recipients’ perceptions of donor-derived stem cells: “a life-sustaining source that connects life,” “a presence that supports healing,” “an entity that is personified and lived together with,” “a part of oneself that feels fully integrated,” and “an image evoked by the attributes associated with the cells.”These findings suggest that nurses should carefully elicit recipients’ thoughts and feelings toward the donor-derived cells and support them in developing positive meanings by respecting their individual interpretations. |

本研究の目的は，造血幹細胞移植を受けた患者が，自らの体内に存在するドナーの細胞へ抱く思いを明らかにすることである．造血幹細胞移植を受けた患者9名に対し半構造化インタビューを実施した．収集した言語データを逐語録におこし，質的記述的に分析した．その結果，造血幹細胞移植を受けた患者が抱く幹細胞への思いは【命をつなぐ生きる源である】【治癒を助けてくれる】【擬人化し一緒に生きていく存在である】【自分と一体化し存在を感じない】【細胞に付随するイメージを想起させる】の5つのカテゴリーが抽出された．看護師は，患者が細胞に抱く思いを丁寧に聴き取り，細胞を肯定的に捉えられるよう，個々の意味づけを尊重し支援を行うことが重要である |
