| 内容記述 | Soil surface temperature plays an important role in crop growth and soil processes, but direct measurement in the field is often difficult. In this study, we estimated soil surface temperature from subsurface soil temperature and examined its relationship with air temperature at the Experimental Farm, Kii-Kuroshio Bio-regional Field Science Center. Soil temperature, soil water, and air temperature were monitored from December to April in plots with different cover crop treatments. A simple heat transfer model was applied to estimate surface temperature, and regression equations were developed using air temperature data. The estimated surface temperature showed a strong correlation with air temperature for daily average temperature and phase constant, while the relationship for daily amplitude was weaker. This was partly due to strong cooling of the surface before sunrise and rapid heating of the surface after sunrise, which caused deviations from a smooth daily sinusoidal curve. When the regression model was developed separately for winter and spring, accounting for seasonal differences in vegetation cover and soil conditions, the amplitude correlation and overall estimation accuracy improved. |
