The meaning of \"Kibushi\" in Japanese is organic substances (lignite fragments) containing clay. Mine fireclay deposit is located in western part of Shimagahara district, clay deposit of this mine can be classified into the following three zones: sandy clay zone, \"Kibushi\" clay zone and bed rock. Further, the \"Kibushi\" clay zone is divided into two sub-zones, i. e. upper sub-zone is 3.5 m thick and bluish grey and the lower one extending from the intercalated grey volcanic ash layer to 4 m in depth and showing brownish to grey in colour. A layer of greyish volcanic ash up to 1 m wide can be observed at the boundary of upper and lower \"Kibushi\" clay sub-zones. The bed rock consists of granite (Ryoke younger granite). The main constituent minerals of the \"Kibushi\" clay are kaolinite, quartz and feldspar. In the upper \"Kibushi\" clay sub-zone, sericite apper, but its appearance is not so common. Also, smectite bearing thin white clay layer is intercalated in the upper sub-zone. This white clay layer is probably an alteration product of volcanic ash. In the upper \"Kibushi\" clay sub-zone, kaolinite content is not so high but lower sub-zone, kaolinite enrichment increase with depth. Comparing the crystallinty of kaolinite in lower and upper sub-zones, X-ray peak of in lower sub-zone is shaper, which seems to be caused by its better crystallising property. Therefore, kaolinite in the lower sub-zone consider to reflect a greater degree of clayey state than those in the upper sub-zone. Further, sampling of \"Kibushi\" clay from Inzo mine, Seto district, Aichi Prifecture have been examined. Indentified minerals of the \"Kibushi\" clay in Inzo mine are mainly kaolinite, quartz and feldspar, and small amounts of sericite.
