The writers also have carried out the field observation of geological occurrence of the \"Kibushi\" clay and mineralogical studies of xonstitute materials and some experiments of hydraulic elutration for clay are examined. In Nakayama deposit, clay formation can be classified into the following three zone: sandy clay zone, \"Kibushi\" clay zone and bed rock. Further \"Kibushi\" clay zone is divided into three sub-zones. Whereas, two \"Kibushi\" clay sub-zones occurred in the profile at the Daido and Moyama mines. General trend of paleo-topography of masement in this area tends to gently incline toward the west, based on the sedimentation of \"Kibushi\" clay zones. Most of sandy clay and \"Kibushi\" clay are composed mainly of kaoline, and fine-grained quartz and feldspar. Small amount of sericite are included in some sandy clay. In Nakayama mine, clay zones contain a small amounts of montmorillonite but hardly to recognize it in other mine. Numerous massive marcasite nodules occur in the lower zone of \"KIbushi\" clay in Nakayama mine.
