However, there have been only a few quantitative studies conducted on the sculling movement. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of propelling force by sculling movement hydrodynamically. The subjects were eight persons, including two synchronized swimmers. In the experiment, waterproof pressure sensors were put on both sides of the hand, and the pressure difference generated by the hand with sculling movement was measured. In addition, the angle of attack and the moving speed of the hand were analyzed by imaging analysis. Based on these indices, the evaluation of sculling movement was attempted. The results showed that the synchronized swimmers conducted quick horizontal movement while always keeping the angle of attack at 45 degrees or less. In this way, propelling force was stable. Conversely, a larger angle of attack did not work effectively as an propelling force, although the pressure difference in the hand part was large. Therefore, in sculling movement, it was shown that it is important to maintain the optimum angle of attack.}, pages = {111--119}, title = {スカーリング動作による推力発揮に関する流体力学的考察}, volume = {50}, year = {1999} }
