Those who sought to recover a holistic life often sought to ground themselves in religious concepts of the Orient. Educators following the trends of their day,among them many thesophists and adherents of “Körperkultur”,were attracted to oriental religions mainly by practices that emphasized salvation through the training of the body,as well as by the promise of a holistic life.
