For this purpose, the significance and need for statistics and statistics education in nursing are described. Next, the kind and content of textbooks on nursing statistics, and the statistical analyses used in nursing research to date were investigated. Furthermore, the current situation of statistics education in nursing colleges and nursing graduate schools in Japan is discussed.  In Japan, nursing statistics has been recognized as a necessity for both nursing practice and research. However, nursing statistics education for students has not been sufficiently addressed.
