Ten nurses and 6 patients who were involved in chemotherapy at outpatient clinic were interviewed.  And the following results were obtained through qualitative analysis.  \n　The patient's distress and difficulty were classified into five categories for both nurses and patients.\n1. Distress and difficulty in physical condition: relating to medical treatment and clinical symptom.\n2. Distress and difficulty in psychological condition: relating to the duration of the treatment and mind facing to the cancer.\n3. Distress and difficulty in socio-cultural condition: relating to daily life and social activity.\n4. Distress and difficulty in human relationship: relationships among health care giver, family and friends.\n5. Distress and difficulty in treatment surroundings: relating to the surrounding of outpatients department.\n　There was a difference in recognition of those distress and difficulty between nurses and patients.  Nurses were inclined to take each category as a separate content, while patients were more apt to take whole categories related in all.
