The behavior of these teenagers was compared with that of students in public elementary and junior high schools using the Attitude Towards Rule Scale and Self-Report Type Reactive-Proactive Aggression Scale. Compared to students in public schools, hospitalized teenagers had higher aggression and were stable only when they felt that they had power over others. Impulsive hospitalized teenagers and children often received negative messages from parents and surrounding adults, leading to a decline in their self-esteem.
