The paper presents the test results of specimens failing due to combined effects of lateral-torsional buckling, local buckling and P∆ moment caused by excessive in-plane displacement, and discusses the load-displacement behavior, the maximum strength and the deformation capacity of the high-strength steel beam-columns, in comparison with the behavior of the mild steel beam-columns. The experimental parameters were shape of H-section of the column, steel grade, column slenderness ratio, stiffness ratio of the beam to the column and axial load ratio to the yield load of the column.
