At 2 hours after oral administration at 40 mg/kg, high concentrations of intact miloxacin were observed in the kidney,bile and spleen while those of the metabolite,M-1,8,5-dihydro-8-oxo-2 H-1,3-dioxolo (4,5-g)quinoline-7-carboxylic acid, were in the kidney and spleen of yellowtail. The glucuronide of miloxacin was found in the muscle, kidny, bile and spleen(not detected in the blood and liver) as the minor metabolite, but that of M-1 was in the blood and liver as the major one. The activity of miloxacin and M-1 against bacteria was examined in vitro. Three strains were used; Aeromonas liquefacience and 2 strains of Vibrio sp isolated from fish.
