Nitrogen-scavenging bacteria in the water usually occurred at the level of 10-10⁴ cfu/ml. This value was almost comparable to that of aerobic heterotrophic bacteria.  
It seems that nitrogen-scavenging bacteria play an important role in the efficient uptake of low levels of nitrogenous compounds in marine environment.},
