It is said that liberated formaldehyde is absorbed by wood charcoal. However, the capability of wood charcoal has not been fully known yet. In this study, the basic characteristics of wood charcoal were investigated. Wood charcoal or other absorbers were placed into a closed desiccator and the reduction of formaldehyde was measured.
