The sugar compositions of alkaline extracts, which thought to be composed of hemicellulose, were determined. The hemicellulose from corn peel, sesame peel and bagasse appeared to consist mainly of arabinoxylan. The fraction from yeast had high glucose and mannose, suggesting the presence of glucan and mannan. Arabinogalactan thought to be main component in hemicellulosic fractions from okara and sweet potato starch residue.
