All of the proteins, a polypeptide, and amino acids examined supressed the depolymerization with different inhibition ratios. In addition, the inhibition ratio in the depolymerization of hyaluronic acid by D-fructose 6-phosohate - Cu²⁺ differed from that in the depolymerization of hyaluronic acid by hydrogen peroxide. These results suggested that the mode of depolymerization of hyaluronic acid and active oxygen species involved in the reaction were different between the two systems.
