In principle, intranuclear FISH signals of each DNA segment are characterized in three groups according to the replication status of each parental allele; two singlets (SS), singlet-doublet (SD), and two doublets (DD). Non-imprinted genes, both of ?NF (tumor necrosis factor) and RFC5 (replication factor C subunit 5), showed a smaller percentage of the SD pattern, while IGF2 gene had a higher percentage of the SD pattern, suggesting that the imprinted IGF2 gene replicates asynchronously between its homologous alleles.
