The changes in the temperature, electric conductivity and pH of culture medium, and the rate of vegetable growth were investigated. It was found that there were no differences in the temperatures of nutrient solution, soil and virmiculite. The pH of nutrient solution increased while that of soil and virmiculite decreased during the growth of plant. Hydroponics surpassed soil culture in expanded leaf number, root length and rhizome weight.
