She has 328t, 50.9m length, 8.6m width, 3. 75m depth and 26 students, 2 researchers, 16 crews in capacity, and provides with the latest equipments for navigations, fisheries and ocean observations. In Japan, seven universities belonging to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology have thirteen training ships, which were renewed at intervals of 25-30 years. Former training ship in our faculty was built in 1980. The project of building new training ship started in 2003, and the next year I assumed office as the construction chairman.
