It was particularly significant among male workers. In this paper, we attempt to clarify the nature of changes for the structure of the labor force of the farm household beginning in that period. The significant empirical findings are as follows. (1) The husband, primary earner in the farm household, chooses to work in family business or to seek\nemployment outside so as to make his own income maximized independently of the participation behavior of other household members. (2) In households where the primary earner (the household head) has chosen to be employed outside, wives may begin to seek employment outside, or not to participate in the labor force at all. In addition their wives who choose to be self employed in family business reduce the number of work-days.
