The main focus is to analyze “Communication Strategies” Which are used by Japanese learners as a speaker.　The informants were eight native English speakers that had been studying Japanese at university in Japan. Their level of Japanese was elementary. The data was taken from interviews done one month after coming to Japan. The interviewer was a native Japanese woman. The interviews were recorded on tape and were transcribed as data in this research.
