Crossability between native Ligustrum japonicum, common at low-mountains in warm-temperate zone and exotic Ligustrum lucidum, going out of the site planted and expands its distribution, is concerned about. We compared the floral phenology and morphology between the species to examine the crossability. Moreover flowering periods of L. japonicum trees were earlier than those of L. lucidum trees. Flowering periods of some L. japonicum trees were overlapped with those of L. lucidum trees. In the floral morphology, there were differences between the species for example in the corolla tube length. Most of them were larger in L. japonicum than those of L. lucidum, while no difference in exposed stamen length. Pistils of some L. japonicum trees were exposed from its corolla tubes, and these of others were buried in them, whereas all the pistils of L. lucidum were exposed from its corolla tubes. These results suggest the crossability between species from pollen of L. japonicum to the other.
