内容記述 | This article reports outcomes of Vietnam Field Study 2018 and what students learned,then considers ways to be improved. This 10-day short-term study abroad program was implemented in 2019 March at Ho Chi Minh City University of Pedagogy. Five students participated in this program which consisted of three major cooperative activities with Vietnamese students; Vietnamese studying and participating in Japanese classes, conducting field studies on students'own initiative which aim to equip them with independent personalities and cross cultural communication skills, and visiting museums to study Vietnam War and Vietnamese culture. This article illustrates from students'report that they had an opportunity to think of their ways of life and identity stimulated by Vietnamese students. They also experienced some communication hardships and learned how to overcome them. This article also mentions further outcomes that Japanese students have continued their friendship with Vietnamese students who came to Mie University after the program. The short-term study abroad program, which students can experience to overcome their hardships of cross-cultural communication and to build their independent personalities, will be required for the international understanding so that students can communicate and have respect for international students. This article suggests that we should appeal this program and develop a system for budgetary support. |
