Major in Sustainable Resource Scciences, Graduate School of Bioresources held a momentous symposium this March. The purpose of this symposium is to clarify the present condition and some tasks in our major, and to improve our activities in research and education. Especially, the verification of the incubation abilities for Japanese researchers is essential for developing our major. The major fact findings are as follows. 1) An individual laboratory has a high ability of education and research. However, our endeavors for networking are insufficient. Maybe the heterogeneity of fields or laboratories forms a big wall. 2) The number of Japanese students who want to study in the doctorial program of graduate school has been decreasing. The reason is that employment opportunity for holders of a doctor degree has been decreasing. Especially, a decrease in the employment opportunity of the university is a severe wound. 3) We should consider smooth transformation of the educational system between the faculty and the graduate school. In the faculty, the education of the generalist training is important. On the other hand, in the graduate school, education of specialist training is essential. Based on these conclusions, we have the obligation to reform education and research in the doctorial program of graduate school. |

三重大学大学院生物資源学研究科資源循環学専攻は今年 3 月, 重要なシンポジウムを開きました。このシンポジウムの目的はわれわれの専攻の現状と課題を明らかにし, 教育研究能力を改善することにあります。とくに日本人研究者の養成能力の検証を行うことが, われわれの専攻の発展のために必須です。その主要なファクトファインディングスはつぎのとおりです。1) 個々の研究室は高い教育研究能力を持っています。しかし, そのネットワーキングの努力は不十分です。おそらく分野もしくは実験室の異質性が大きな壁を形成しています。2) 大学院博士後期課程で勉強しようという日本人学生が減少しています。その理由は博士号の取得者の就職機会が減少していることにあります。とくに大学の就職機会の減少が痛手です。3) 学部と大学院の間の教育システムの円滑な転換に配慮しなければなりません。学部では, ジェネラリスト養成の教育が重要です。一方, 大学院では, スペシャリストの養成が不可欠です。以上の結論をふまえて, われわれは大学院博士後期課程の教育研究を改革する責務を持っています。 |
