内容記述 | This paper proposes that we should help foreign students in Japan to retain their first language with a view to assist them in studying subjects. On the basis of Cummins's “common underlying proficiency model”, it is supposed that bilingual can soIve the problem in second language by common underlying proficiency even if they don't have enough language proficiency of second language. We research that adult Japanese language learners as the model of foreign students in Japan whose first language were developed well solve story problem written in Japanese to establish this hypothesis. That investigation showed that intermediate-level Japanese language learners' results and elementary-level Japanese language learners' results were similar. As the result, the hypothesis was proved. Therefore, it's useful for foreign students in Japan to study subjects that they keep their first language and we support their subject study by their first language. | |||||
