| 内容記述 | A Neo-Kantian philosopher, Ernst Cassirer says that “as the critique of reason, being a new and original philosophy, stands against the philosophy of the past, so it is also separate from the development of his thought in the pre-critical writings.” But I do not think so. In this paper, I take up the latter point, namely the relationship between Kant’s pre-critical and critical positions, and maintain that there is continuity, as well as discontinuity, between them. In order to make this clear, I compare a treatise of the pre-critical period, A New Elucidation of the First Principles of Metaphysical Cognition (1755), and a main work of the critical period, Critique of Pure Reason (1781/87), and show the following two things. First, in the Critique Kant reworked the principles of metaphysical cognition he once treated in the New Elucidation, and second, in the Critique he replaced the metaphysics he once held in the New Elucidation, namely the God-centered one, with the Human-centered one. Inquiries into these two things will lead to detect the point on which the critique’s success or failure and its significance hinge. | |||||||||
