| 内容記述 | Fish schooling dynamics in relation to underwater topography and oceanographic enviroment in the coastal region of Kumano Nada were studied. Field observations were performed along the continental shelf from off Mikisaki to off Daiōsaki. Observation was done from the Seisuimaru, a Mie University research boat, keeping her speed at 10 knots an hour. Scanning was done with the aid of an echosounder and supersonic currentmeter. The echosounder traced fish schools at rough bottomed areas near Kaminoshima and Mikisaki. The frequency of fish school appearance changed with the steepness of the slope of the bank, being 25,50 and 100 % for the depth change per ship's one minute cruise(308.7m long) of less than 5m, 5-13m and more than 34m, respectively. In coastal currents that flowed eastward, the fish schools appeared over the top and westside slope of the bank, whereas in westward currents, they appeared over the eastside slope. The distance from sea bottom to the center of the fish school varied diurnally. The mode of distribution of the distance was between 10 and 20m in daytime and at night, but in early morning it became 0 to 5m. |
