| 内容記述 | This report follows up the preceding one published in 2002 on the same topic. The English study tour to Universlty of Tasmania has been the sole program till this year in the same manner as a group tour. The participants' dissatisfaction to study with their fellow Japanese students only lingered on every year. Finally, we are offered a new program at Seattle Pacific University in the U.S.A. The new program accepts fifteen students who will travel to SPU in a group, yet to be placed in international classes in six different levels according to the results of the placement test. The program has other features which the UTAS program does not have. Further, it costs less expensive despite the longer duration. The fifteen seats for the SPU program were filled right away while the UTAS program finally attracted nine students. The pre-departure questionnaire shows not much difference in their communicative skills. Most of them lack confidence and are worried of listening and speaking English. Thus, SPU participants may end up with sitting in lower classes. Nonetheless, it will be a good chance for them to be exposed to aggressive attitude of foreign students in English learning. The comparison of the evaluations of the two programs are anticipated after they come back. | |||||||||
