| 内容記述 | The recent trend of immigrants in Japan is going toward multi-nationalization, local concentration of each ethnic minority, and extending settlement. Mie prefecture has the seventh highest ratio of foreigner population in all Japan and this ratio has increased over the years. I (Fujimoto) established a volunteer group to support Japanese study for foreigners living and working in the neighborhood in 1993, and since then have been the head of the group. From this position I make the report about the circumstances and consciousness of the foreign workers who want to study Japanese. There are many Japanese classes run by volunteer groups for foreigners, but each group has its own base stance, Style, concept，and way of managing. The foreigners studying in the classes mostly work in comparatively poor conditions. We should listen to their opinions mentioned in various places and recogniz that many of them don't have a good impression of Japanese society. Therefore we must understand that all of foreign workers studying Japanese don't necessarily hope to do willingly. We also suppose that the understanding of foreign cultures and human rights by average Japanese people is at a lower level than expected by foreigners. The Japanese classes are not only the places to study language for foreigners, but also can be the entrance to Japanese society, and provide advice and assistance to solve everyday problems by volunteers. They have the responsibility to mediate between the foreign workers, who can see Japanese society critically, and Japanese society which must change itself with rapid globalization. | |||||||||
