A field trip to Kyoto for international exchange, for non Japanese university
students, Japanese students & citizens, to learn more about the era of "the end of the Edo period and the Meiji restoration" was adopted and carried out. The seminar was
given by Mr. KIMURA Yukihiko, the head of the curators at Kyoto City Reizan Museum. Following that, the group visited and studied several sites in Kyoto that survive from this period.
The participants learned about the way of life and thinking of the reformers, for example SAKAMOTO Ryoma, who played a significant role during the period of the Meiji Restoration, which is the foundation of modern Japan. There was not only an effective international exchange among foreign students, Japanese students and
citizens, but the programme also provided an opportunity for them to learn about each other's culture and history better through mecaningful interaction.
