| 内容記述 | An attempt will be made to describe some Japanese grammatical items and their English counterparts. The present paper is also an attempt to explore the possibility of "the comparison as a method", which, by way of sound empiricism and not via rigorous universalism, aims at the realities of languages. Focus will be on how they (grammatical items in question) are used, and hence the descriptions will be "semantic" in some specific sense of the term, which is to be explicated later in this paper. "Sono 1 (josetsu l)" in this volume is the former half of the discussion on the metatheoretical and/or methodological preliminaries to what will be presented in the subsequent sections. | |||||||||||
