| 内容記述 | It is frequently said that Agricultural Cooperatives of Japan (Nokyo) have been well organized, as compared with farmers' cooperatives of other countries in the world. Many farmers in Japan, however, are dissatisfied with that organization for several reasons. In this paper, we attempt to calrify the reasons and the characteristics of their dissatisfaction, on the basis of replies submitted to our questionnaire. The major findings are as follows. (1) According to the results of a statistical analysis, discontented farmers are full-time farmers in the younger generation. (2) They are dissatisfied with the profit-making behavior of Agricultural Cooperatives, and criticize lack of efforts in marketing and guidance business related to agriculture. (3) Transaction costs for mutual agreement between farmers and Agricultural Cooperatives, including costs of materials, risk-bearing, information gathering and time, may be expected to be higher than those between farmers and private dealers. It is true especially for full-time farmers. (4) Agricultural Cooperatives should make efforts to reduce transaction costs in marketing business, as well as to increase strong leadership for households' future, in the area of guidance. | |||||||||
